THE ROARING 20’S: SLATE HOLIDAY PARTY 2022

For the past 6 years, Mad Bash Group has planned and designed Slate Asset Managements annual Holiday Party and it continues to be one of our favourite ways to close off the year. This year, inspired by the roaring 20’s, we transformed Steam Whistle’s Locomotive Hall into a classic and elegant speakeasy.

How to plan a cocktail style corporate event

Each year, Slate has always done a sit down dinner, but this year, they wanted something different. With a larger guest count, we opted for a cocktail style soiree full of lounge style seating options and walk-up food stations. To anchor the lounges, we designed an art-deco pattern that was transferred over to a vinyl decal and spread out across Locomotive Hall. We mixed banquette style seating, low accent tables and fanback chairs to evoke a speakeasy/burlesque club vibe.

To greet guests as they arrived, Abbey Road Entertainment provided Flapper Girls decked out in classic Gatsby-style attire to really hone in on the roaring 20’s vibe. As an entertainment piece, these Flapper Girls later in the evening put on a show using the classic “Charleston” style dance moves as back in the 1920’s.

All signage was inspired by mismatched thrifted Art Deco frames for both food stations and bars. We then flanked each sign with warm ambient candles and tropical-inspired floral arrangements.

A focal moment for the evening was this ceiling installation that hovered over the graphic print dance floor that consisted of a tropical floral cloud and gold fringe + art-deco inspired crystal chandeliers. This provided a WOW moment as guests entered into Locomotive Hall and immediately screamed - “The dance floor is this way”. Speaking of the dance floor, the St. Royals were on site all night performing for guests and keeping the vibes high. They sounded amazing, as always.

As an experiential component, we had Correnti Cigars come and live roll onsite for guests which was an absolute hit. Not only were guests able to leave with a takeaway (or use it at the party) but they also learned about the hand rolling process!
