FAREWELL LYNZIE AND ANDREW

At Mad Bash we are usually engaged for corporate activations, events, and weddings, but we have been known to throw the occasional private party! The special event we’re sharing today was near and dear to our collective Mad Bash heart as it celebrated our Founder and Creative Director Lynzie Kent’s move to Australia with her kids and Aussie-born husband. This was a chance for friends and family to say goodbye, and for the MBG team to say see ya next week on Zoom, as she continues to run MBG and design her insanely creative events from afar. So as an event planner it was only natural for her to plan one last hoorah and throw a 1970s disco night at retro Junto Studio, and we cried while we danced and celebrated the end of an era.

designing the DANCE FLOOR FOR A SERIOUS PARTY

We’ve learned from experience planning weddings that it’s not uncommon for couples to tell you that one of their wedding goals is to have an off the hook dance floor. So we have a few tricks to make this very achievable dream a reality - for one, make it look so good that it naturally attracts people, like bees to honey! Our graphic designer at It’s Okay Studio designed this groovy vinyl dance floor and it looked fab! Our other trick is to station the bar and DJ booth right next to the floor, so no one has any excuse to leave - unless of course you have a plane to catch to Australia - we’ll accept that!

DISCO BALL BALLOONS to boogie beneath

Things event planners do: blow up balloons. We blew these funky disco balls up and hung them from the ceiling simply because they made the party just a bit more groovy!

wavy Retro Bar and Welcome Signs

It doesn’t matter how casual the bash is, if the party’s in a new location, we never skip the welcome sign! As event planners we like to formally welcome guests to the fiesta. The bar sign is another must - would you seriously consider setting your bartender up for a night of repeatedly having to answer the question “what do you have?” No of course not, that wouldn’t be polite! So we always print ourselves a bar sign.

AN EXTRA-LARGE GOURMET GRAZING TABLE

We crafted an extra-large grazing table with antipasti, charcuterie, cakes, cookies, chips and candy - something for everyone! We ordered the cakes from Kwento with vintage piping in the party’s colours - green, purple, and orange - to match the dance floor. Yum!

Finding the Right Venue for your Fête

We took the time to find the perfect venue for this 70s inspired party: vintage-finds-filled Junto Studio caught the perfect vibe in the right location.
