REAL WEDDING: LISA AND CHASE
It’s a Toronto Island wedding! Lisa and Chase were married at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in August 2024, and planned to tie the knot on the lawn with the shimmering waters of Lake Ontario stretching out behind them. However, the weather gods were not on side. But as we all know, rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, and a wet knot is harder to untie! Not wanting to actually get wet, of course, we and the incredibly graceful bride and groom pivoted to an indoor ceremony in the RCYC’s beautiful ballroom.
outdoor WEDDING ON TORONTO ISLAND
Weddings on the Island require a little extra planning, as vendors can’t just drive up to a loading bay and deliver their goods. Everything has to be meticulously planned and transported on a pontoon. With more than 15 years in the business, we have an extensive network of industry contacts, so it wasn’t hard to find the right people to ensure a smooth and seamless set up and tear down!
whimsical garden party vibes on Toronto Island
Plan A for Lisa and Chase’s wedding was an outdoor ceremony beneath a mature willow tree, and a garden-party cocktail hour on the lawn, where we set up a checkered sage green dance floor and open-mic stage. The couple sourced beautiful white sun umbrellas with black trim, and Dance Floor Dynamics installed a wide white aisle runner lined with flower petals, and florals in white, ivory, blush, peach, and soft pinks, for a charming and classic look.
We had the romantic ceremony all set to go, but the sky was overcast, so we began to prepare the ballroom in case of rain. We’ve had weddings in the past that we were certain would be rained out, only to have the sun peek out from behind a cloud literally minutes before guests arrived, so we always try to keep the outdoor ceremony space set up for as long as possible. As a Plan B, we re-organized the indoor dining chairs into rows just in case, but ultimately the rain did not stop, so we cropped the wide aisle runner to fit the room, and Lisa and Chase, absolutely unshakeable and completely lovely, tied the knot alongside their 18-person wedding party.
ROYAL CANADIAN YACHT CLUB WEDDING
For the reception, we pulled together a modern and chic neutral wedding look that perfectly complimented the room. The couple wanted a communal u-shaped table layout, making table assignments simple, and conducive to the extra-large wedding party! Tables were laid with blush satin tablecloths and contrasting hazel linen napkins. Creamy beige bud vases with white roses lined the tables, along with white pillar candles and ribbed glass votives, giving tablescapes a luxurious look and feel. For a special touch, the couple added little black bows to the scallop-edged menus, because why not?!
A glamorous APEROL SPRITZ TOWER
The After Party had an extra-special treat: Although Lisa is from Toronto, she and Chase call Nashville home, and they were graced with not one but FOUR musicians who performed during the cocktail hour. The couple then celebrated with a glorious Aperol Spritz tower which resulted in some super gorgeous photos.
