The countdown to the holidays are ON! As the city around us becomes more and more festive, we can’t help but to look back at our most recent holiday event. Sephora’s Holiday Media Preview is an event that we look forward to designing for Middle Child every year, and we were so excited to finally be able to see all of the wonderful guests in person again this year!

Our inspiration for this event design was based off of Sephora’s Holiday Collection. We loved incorporating the gorgeous jewel tones from the campaign and the idea of bringing everyone together again- the best part of every holiday gathering!

We started with Interactive branded activations

As guests entered the stunning University Club of Toronto, scents of Gingerbread Cookie, Apple Spice, and Cozy Cabin from Sephora’s mini candle collection filled the room. After ascending the spiral staircase, guests were greeted by a life-sized advent calendar that spanned the entire foyer. Matching their ticket to the numbers on the advent calendar, guests opened the associated cabinet to find a selection of holiday goodies for them to take home with them. Champagne and non-alcoholic mocktails were free flowing as guests reunited with their industry friends, while shelves of the latest holiday product releases gave all the guests many things to talk about. Each shelf also contained custom-branded QR codes so that guests were able to browse the products in real time and learn more about the ingredients and ways to use each product!

Jewel Tone Inspired Corporate Event Design

After some mingling, guests were welcomed to be seated for dinner. For this tablescape, we wanted to bring the theme of connection to the table top. Each set of tables had gorgeous colour blocked velvet tablecloths, with a woven ribbon runner set in the middle of each table. The hand-woven runner was made entirely by our team, from the ribbon selection, to the trimming of each ribbon, to the intricate weaving! Colourful structural centerpieces by Flowers by Rzy interweaved all the jewel tones together, with touches of gold in the candlesticks and cutlery enhancing the luxurious and festive atmosphere. On each place setting, a custom engraved bottle of perfume acted as a placecard, with each scent customized to every guest- we love a personalized gift, and what better way for Sephora to exemplify their brand new engraving services! Each menu, designed by It’s Okay Studio, was finished off with a colourful tassel and provided easy access to Sephora’s Holiday Collection as guests awaited their meals. For dinner, we wanted to bring a touch of holiday to the table. Guests were served radicchio and belgian endive salad with dried cherries, scallions with a maple pommery dressing to start, and a modern take of a turkey breast filled with traditional stuffing had guests satiated and satisfied!

At the end of dinner, our MCs asked guests to move into the ballroom for an after-dinner surprise. The dimly lit room was set up in the style of a jazz club, with a custom built round stage in the center. Hundreds of candles lit the stage as guests gasped upon entering the stunning space. With everybody cozied up in the luxurious velvet lounges from Divine Furniture Rentals, elegant Espresso Martinis, individual tiramisu and panna cottas were passed to the guests. Bowed Arts, a local string quintet, greeted the guests with string-covers of their pop favourites. Phoenix Pagliacci and Alexander Saint were featured as guest singers this evening, and blew everyone away with snazzy renditions of Dua Lipa’s Levitating and Lizzo’s 2 Be Loved. We couldn’t help but to bop along!

As the evening wrapped up, custom-branded gift boxes were given to each guest before they headed home. In each box, cookies in the shape of Sephora gift bags, lipsticks, and eyeshadows from Sweet & Shy Cakes were nestled in a pool of teal crinkle, along with a gift card to Sephora and a note card reminding guests of all the fabulous new services offered at Sephora.
